Al Jamiatul Arabiatul Islamia, Badarpur, traces its origin to an early religious institution known as Islamia Madrasa, established in Badarpur through the sincere efforts of local scholars and well-wishers devoted to Islamic education. With steady growth and increasing public support, the institution developed into Deorail Senior Madrasa and later Deorail Title Madrasa, ultimately emerging as Al Jamiatul Arabiatul Islamia, a comprehensive center of Islamic learning.
Deorail Title Madrasa formally began its academic activities in two rooms located in the south-western portion of the present Senior Madrasa building. During its early years, the institution benefited from the leadership of distinguished scholars. Among them were Maulana Atikul Haq (Rah.) of Sylhet, who served as Shaykhul Hadith and Principal, and later Maulana Mushahid Bayampuri (Rah.), a khalifa of Shaykhul Islam Maulana Husain Ahmad Madani, who continued the scholarly and spiritual guidance of the madrasa.
A historic turning point came in September 1947, when the eminent scholar, freedom fighter, and visionary leader Maulana Abdul Jalil Choudhury (Rah.) migrated to India and settled in Badarpur on the call of his revered teacher Shaykhul Islam Husain Ahmad Madani (Rah.). He joined Deorail Title Madrasa on 1 October 1947 as a Muhaddith. Following the departure of Maulana Mushahid Bayampuri after partition, Maulana Abdul Jalil Choudhury (Rah.) assumed the responsibilities of Shaykhul Hadith and Principal. Under his dynamic leadership, the madrasa entered a new era of progress and soon earned recognition as one of the leading Islamic institutions in North East India.
As student enrollment increased and educational activities expanded, additional land was arranged near the national highway, and on 28 February 1954, the foundation of new buildings was laid by Shaykhul Islam Husain Ahmad Madani (Rah.). Teaching activities later shifted to the newly constructed facilities, enabling the institution to expand further.
During the 1960s, significant changes in the state madrasa curriculum reduced the emphasis on Islamic subjects. Recognizing the long-term impact of this shift, Maulana Abdul Jalil Choudhury (Rah.) strongly advocated for preserving authentic Islamic education and envisioned a comprehensive institution safeguarding Islamic scholarship while incorporating necessary general education.
Following major expansion in 1970–1971, the institution evolved into a full-fledged Islamic educational center with multiple academic divisions including primary, senior, title, advanced Tafsir, Ifta, research studies, Hifz, and vocational training. By the mid-1980s, the expanded institution came to be known as Al Jamiatul Arabiatul Islamia.
Since its establishment, the institution has preserved its tradition of religious scholarship, discipline, and moral training, serving as a vital center of Islamic learning across North East India and beyond.
Today, Al Jamiatul Arabiatul Islamia continues to uphold its rich tradition of Islamic scholarship, discipline, and service to society. The institution remains committed to providing authentic religious education while nurturing moral character, spiritual awareness, and a sense of responsibility among students.
Over the years, its graduates have served as scholars, teachers, imams, and community leaders across North East India and beyond. Many alumni are contributing to Islamic education, religious guidance, and social development in various institutions and communities.
